Chapter 5
The Echo
Looking back, what has stayed with you? Did it change anything about you, your life, or the way you see things today?
Today, I still see insane things on the job market and in my own company. Layoffs left and right, under the pretext of AI and the economy, while the board gorges itself. People laid off, and their positions posted the very next day with a lower salary. A company that would rather hire from outside than promote the people who have been there the longest and hold the knowledge. Of all the dirty tricks a company can pull, I think this one is the most disturbing. But in the end, in your professional life or your personal life, what counts is your self-esteem, not what the people around you or the market say about you. So my company tells me I'm efficient, without promoting me or giving me a raise? I say I'm staying. I take what I have to take, and the time it gives me to build my apps and create my company. Today, I'm creating three companies while working full-time for a company that doesn't fully recognize my value. But I know it. Now more than ever.
