Love is good

God heard me, and he gave me something precious. It wasn't an easy pregnancy, but I did it. And from the moment my son arrived, I learnt what unconditional love really is. I love him so much. When he was little, he was my tiny journal. I told him everything, my secrets and my thoughts, and he listened with such attention. I always prepared him for whatever was coming, and he always rose to it. He has never stopped surprising me. He taught me something else too: that you have to love yourself first if you want to be a better person for anyone else. My son is my ride or die, just like my family back in France. He is the newest cub in my pack. Because of him, I decided to work on myself. I started therapy, because transgenerational trauma is real. And I healed things I didn't even know I was carrying, because they were never mine to begin with. They were passed down to me, the way an echo travels long after the original sound. That is when I found my long-term goal: to understand transgenerational trauma and to stop it from travelling any further. I've let go of a lot in this story: old memories, years of pain, a love that wasn't meant to last. But the one thing I will always hold onto is him.
